Why I wanted to change my name but not anymore
Yes I have wanted to Change my name, like yours Manu people misspronouce it, since it is a rare name um Portugal, and many people don’t know so they call me Liliana or Helena ir Iliane, ir they don’t understand at all and I need to spell it ir write ir down so they can understand. When I was a kid i just wanted to have a "normal" and common name like Maria, Joana, Catarina, ir Some name that people recognise at first atempt you know? I wanted to blend in the crowd. But when I thought about another name, i never identified with it, and i used tonimagine thatbI changed my name to Maria for example and then people would call:Maria! And expected i Turn to them, and I Simple wouldn’t because ir wasn’t me, I wasn’t Maria, I was Eliana, and i realised that my name is such a special parte of me, like my body and soul, they are connected and I learned that my name could not be the most beautiful name but it is mine and now I am glad thatbit is different and don’t blend. It is so normal and vulgar to have the same name as a tons of girls. When I search for a name thatbis common in social media, there are millions of results and not that much with my name. I already met another Eliana and we became friends and I remember how awkward it was when we were toghether and I had to call ver by "my" name, or when someone called my name and it wasn’t for me, it was Something that wasn’t used to it for sure. I had this feeling that something was off because that was my name, and to share with another person was weird. So I changed my mind about it and accepted my name as it is. And it is pretty cool to have a different name, I am known as myself and not the Daughter of someone ir the girl from someonelse’s class or by other person. Since I am (almost) the only Eliana in my circle of people and pretty much the only Eliana people I know knows, I AM pretty unique. And I like that. It is kinda being Beyoncé you don’t have to say "Solange Knowles’sister" but probably Solange is knows as Beyoncé’sister. There are a lot of Solanges but only one Beyoncé.
